A personal and shared sighting - Near Johnson Shut-ins State Park, Missouri

I'm going back about 20 years now. It was a tradition that friends and my husband and I went camping every year at Johnson Shut-ins State Park for Memorial Day weekend. This particular year no one was able to get down there early enough to secure a campsight at the park. That in itself is no problem as there was anouther campground nearby. It was called Indian Point Campground. It's not there anymore these days although you can still see where the main building used to be. My husband and I got there late thursday evening. We knew that my cousin and some friends were already there but, it was so late that we went ahead and just set up our own tent. We knew we'd find everyone in the morning so we started a fire and sat out to enjoy the evening. We hadn't been sitting out long when we saw 3 UFOs. They almost seemed to be putting on a show for us. My husband and I were both just amazed. This campground was also very full. There were people all around us. We all started gathering in small groups. Everyone witnessing these beautiful lit up ships dashing this way and that. So fast, in so many directions it almost seemed impossible. We were just all in absolute awe. This went on for at my best guess a half hour to an hour. Then they were gone just as quickly as they came. It was hard to sleep that night from all the excitement but we finally managed some. The next morning we located our friends and my cousin and they'd all seen the same thing. There were probably at least 100 witnesses to this event. I have NO PHOTOS. This was a time when I'd yet to start carrying a camera with me most places. But I do remember it vividly and have talked with my husband and friends and they remember it just as well. I still feel just very lucky to have witnessed it.

Comet in the Nightsky - Get out and see it !

There's always things worth looking for in the sky, but especially now. Comet Holmes is out and about and viewable. Get your butt off the sofa and get out on any dark night soon and watch . I promise you won't be sorry you did . Starting November 26th, there's a good dark-sky period between when twilight ends and the Moon rises (depending on the latitude where you live). This dark-sky window is only about a half hour long on the 26th (near latitude 40° north) but grows about an hour longer each night thereafter. Comet Holmes came into view October 24th. At first the expanding dust cloud around its icy nucleus appeared so small that it looked like a bright star. Within days the cloud spread out wider, the “star” became a fuzzy round disk. Since then the disk has been getting wider, and as the dust has spread its brightness has greatly dimmed. As of late November the comet is about 0.7° wide, larger than the apparent diameter of the Moon.
Will Comet Holmes erupt again, as it did when discovered in 1892? Get out and take a look. This visitor will be among the stars of Perseus for months.

Real Ghost - Photo Evidence

This photograph appeared in both the Chicago Sun-Times and the National Examiner. It was taken during an investigation in Bachelor's Grove Cemetery on August 10, 1991 with a group of GRS members. The picture is an enlarged black and white infrared shot taken of an area where many of the group noticed something unusual with some of the equipment they used. It shows a young woman sitting on a tombstone with parts of her lower and upper body being somewhat semi-transparent. The dress she is wearing is also out-of-date. It was taken by member, Jude Huff-Felz.

The ghost that wasn't

I still want to keep this blog as personal as I can. So with that in mind, I'm going to tell you about a time when I was about 10 years old. I was up in minnesota in the middle of the woods at my parents cabins. It was late at night and my Grandma walked up to the outhouse with me one more time before bed. As we walked up the hill with a little flashlight, my brother lay in the grass waiting for us. As we got just up beside him, he took a puff of his cigarette and stood up. I screamed! Thinking it was a ghost of course. Sometimes the ghosts that aren't, are the most fun :)

UFO invasion in Greece

A woman took a picture that appears to show not 1 but several UFOs. This was taken in the countryside in Greece. What is truly amazing about this photograph is not that it contains a single UFO, but four to seven unidentified objects. A little thing - or is it ?

Here it is Thanksgiving. All day I'd been bothered by the fact that my family wasn't all going to be together. Some of us were, some had other things to do. Most of all , I was bothered by the fact that I wasn't going to be with my Parents. It was truely tugging at my heartstrings. Now mind you, we all live very close and see each other often. Still, I'm a baby and I wanted my Mommy and Daddy there . I got to my sisters house and there they were. They'd gone out, but came back early to be there with us. My mom " had a feeling " that her babies needed her there. I guess it's just a little thing but I do believe we have connections with each other that we often just take for granted. A little thing? No Way :)

An Interesting Hobby - John Zaffis Museum of the Paranormal

Here is a place you can view haunted items collected over the years. Zaffis writes that "Spirits can often become attached to objects through various rituals associated with witchcraft. Spirits can also be attached to an object that is familiar to the spirit, and may have been important to the spirit when the spirit was in human form. " The John Zaffis Paranormal Museum contains hundreds of supposedly haunted items, some were taken from homes following many unexplained and often-negative phenomenon happening. A TV station in Sioux Falls captured an unidentified flying object in the South Dakota skyline. This video footage is amazing! as i was driving to work on 11_7 shift a bright light hovered over my car at speed of my car, it followed me on the highway until i was almost ready to go to work then it sped off as i guess it saw me ready to turn off in parking lot.

Arizona remains a hotspot for UFO sightings

Reported on KPNX (NBC) in Chandler, Arizona on August 10, 2007, a couple was awakened on the night of Wednesday, August 8, 2007 to a mysterious bright light in the sky, followed by a "sonic boom". No known photos or videos exist. Seems to me that anyone really interested in sighting a UFO with time and means should visit Arizona. It's so active and so many reports that I would think it a good place to start for anyone hoping to have a sighting.

Guardian Angels

Pretty much throughout my five years of high school my "best enemy" was a guy named Kevin. We tormented each other regularly and were barely civil to each other but that was what we did best. The Christmas of Grade 11 (our last year) I had this really weird feeling and I went up to Kevin and hugged and kissed him Merry Christmas. He basically pushed me off and said "What the heck are you doing??????" but I just carried on and felt better for having done it.

We were told on January 7, 1981 that Kevin had become ill over the holidays and earlier that morning they had turned off the life support machines and he had died. I don't do funerals very well and I didn't attend Kevin's. We all spent the rest of that year waiting for him to walk back down the hall.

The February following his death, my best friend Mel and I were walking home from school after an activity so it was dark. We were about to cross the road in front of the church when suddenly I was pushed hard by my shoulders and landed on my rear end. I jumped up and said "What did you do that for???" - just then a van went by with no lights on and had I been crossing I would have been hit. Mel said she never touched me but I thought she wasn't being truthful.

Then that June I was up on a friend's roof - which is nearly impossible to believe anyway since I am terrified of heights - and I was about to take a step when I heard clear as day Kevin's voice say "Watch out!!" and I felt like I was pushed to the other side. I thought I'd fall but I kept my balance like someone was holding my hand. When I looked down where I had nearly stepped there was a loose piece of shingle that wasn't visible against the dark roof and I would have slipped if I stepped on it and fallen off the roof.

Before I moved away from my hometown that summer, I went to visit Kevin's grave and say my goodbyes. To this day I believe that everyone has someone who watches out for them and I believe that the person who watches over me is Kevin.

A Ghostly Visitor

When I was in high school we lived in a farmhouse in southeast missouri. My whole family at one time or another had experiences with strange sounds/footsteps-creaking doors-dishes breaking and other un explained happenings. I can remember one summer afternoon I was laying down in My bed upstairs to nap after a tough chore. I remember I was the only one up stairs-was only two rooms-while laying there I heard definate footsteps cross the room and stop at the side of the bed. Looking over expecting to see one of my brothers or sisters , I saw noone and a chillin the air suddenly crossed over the bed. I jumped out of the bed on the opposide side and raced-fell down the steps. Was so terrified I NEVER went back up there, mom and dad had to move my bed downstairs, They knew I was telling the truth cause they had heard similar steps on numberous ocassions-even to the point of going up stairs to see which one of us kids was up and stomping around.

Dateline: 1949. East Germany.

I do "believe" in ghosts...because I have seen a few! However, this story was told to me many years ago, by my then boyfriends mother. I have never forgotten it, nor will I ever forget the look on her face as she related it.
Harry was born in Germany, of German parents, in 1949. They were living with Harry's grandparents in a small village in East Germany while his father was away in the army. One evening Harry's mother had put him to bed - he was about six months old - and had gone back downstairs. Sometime later, she went to check on him. As she walked into the room, she saw a dark figure, appearing to come through the wall. She was obviously terrified but grabbed the sleeping Harry from his crib and ran downstairs with him. She told her father what she had seen but when he went to investigate there was nothing there.
A short time later they heard a commotion coming from the house next door. As they listened they heard screaming and crying. Harry's grandfather went and knocked to see what was wrong and if they could help in any way.
It would appear that the people next door had put their daughter to bed upstairs as usual. A while later the child cried out for her daddy. He went up to her and she seemed upset, as if she had had a bad dream....about a man coming through the wall to get her. She asked for a drink of water so he went downstairs to fetch her one. When he went back upstairs he found the little girl dead....her neck was broken.

Interesting Report I stumbled across today

Virginia-11-05-The witness was watching a movie about 11:00 PM in his living room, when he noticed it had begun to rain outside. He was surprised as his area had been in a drought, so he started outside to see how much it was raining. As he was exiting the living room, he heard a strange sound, like "whooshing" coming from outside. He opened the door, and was shocked to see a dark, equilateral triangular object about 600 feet in the air. It began to pass over their courtyard, and he could see it was as big as a commercial airliner. It had three white lights, one at each corner, and a dimmer white light just in back of the forward point, and also a red light in the center of the craft. The man watched in awe as the mysterious object slowly moved across Highway 395, eventually fading from view. He often sees helicopters from the Pentagon fly over, but this was unlike anything he had ever seen. source: www.mufon.com

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic U.S. presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich may have been ridiculed for saying he had seen a UFO, but for some former military pilots and other observers, unidentified flying objects are no laughing matter.
An international panel of two dozen former pilots and government officials called on the U.S. government on Monday to reopen its generation-old UFO investigation as a matter of safety and security given continuing reports about flying discs, glowing spheres and other strange sightings.
"Especially after the attacks of 9/11, it is no longer satisfactory to ignore radar returns ... which cannot be associated with performances of existing aircraft and helicopters," they said in a statement released at a news conference.
The panelists from seven countries, including former senior military officers, said they had each seen a UFO or conducted an official investigation into UFO phenomena.
The subject of UFOs grabbed the spotlight in the U.S. presidential race last month when Kucinich, a member of Congress from Ohio, said during a televised debate with other Democratic candidates that he had seen one.
Former presidents Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter are both reported to have claimed UFO sightings.
Most turn out to be misidentified aircraft, satellites or meteors. A panelist who once worked for Britain's Ministry of Defense said 5 percent of incidents cannot be explained.
But the sightings are often dismissed by authorities without proper investigations, UFO activists say.
"It's a question of who you going to believe: your lying eyes or the government?" remarked John Callahan, a former Federal Aviation Administration investigator, who said the CIA in 1987 tried to hush up the sighting of a huge lighted ball four times the size of a jumbo jet in Alaska.
The panel, organized by a group dedicated to winning credibility for the study of UFOs, urged Washington to resume UFO investigations through the U.S. Air Force or NASA.
"It would certainly, I think, take a lot of angst out of this issue," said former Arizona Gov. Fife Symington, who said he was among hundreds who saw a delta-shaped craft with enormous lights silently traverse the sky near Phoenix in 1997.
The Air Force investigated 12,618 UFO reports from 1947 to 1969 in what was known as Project Blue Book. Investigators concluded that the incidents posed no threat and there was no evidence of space aliens or a super technology in operation.
"Since the termination of Project Blue Book, nothing has occurred that would support a resumption of UFO investigations," the Air Force said on its Web site.

Northern Lights

Well I'm home from my trip up north. It was beautiful. I got to see one of Natures Wonders , The Northern Lights. I only had one night with clear skies but what a treat! Being up in the woods there's always a little sense of spookiness for me. The only thing that happened on this trip concerned my dog. My dog's name is Bear. Bear loves it up in the woods. He'd been perfect on the trip and was just great to have along. One night though, He suddenly started howling and barking and all the hair on his back was standing straight up. He was looking out our old road and he would run up the hill towards it barking , but then run right back afraid. I never saw what was there but it deffinately gave me a chill.

Clear Skies

Heading up north in the morning. Hoping for clear skies and to possibly see something unusual. I plan on really keeping my eyes open at night and focused on the sky. I'll be looking for the Northern Lights and anything else I can see. Will report more when I return :)

Poltergeist

I spent a little time today watching some youtube videos. There were a few that had poltergeist activity that were very interesting. I posted a video link on this blog so that anyone reading could view and give comments. So, here's hoping you do!

Bigfoot

I can remember my Mom taking me to a movie about Bigfoot when I was fairly young. I loved it. It was scarey and fun and I wish I knew the name of that movie. Just the other day a friend of mine from chat mentioned Bigfoot. I'm hoping she'll post her story but wanted to invite everyone else into this topic too. So,,,,,, Feel free !

Haunted Houses

One thing I firmly believe in is haunted houses. I've known so many people that have experienced living in haunted houses at one time or anouther. There was a house in my neighborhood when I was a child that was always thought to be haunted. The house was the last on an alley so that there was an alley that ran behind it and along side of it. A huge unkept yard and an old stone wall gave the house a spooky look to begin with even outside. I personally only once saw lights go on and then off in the basement of the house. But many friends back then said to have seen lots of light activity and heard sounds or crashing glass from inside the house. I'd really like to hear from anyone that has any stories to tell about haunted houses. So please click on the comment at the bottom of this blog and post your tale.

Close Encounters

I updated my profile and thought about this movie. When I first saw Close Encounters of the Third Kind something about it seemed almost familiar. I felt an understanding so deep for the characters craving feelings to go and see more. The drive from inside himself to be a part of it , to see, to get as close as he could seemed so understandable to me. Crazy? maybe. But if given the chance to choose to see or not, I'd want to see. Lights in the Sky

I want to recount something that happened to me several years ago that seems very minor but to me was really something. I was laying in bed in one of my cabins up in Minnesota. I had windows on 3 sides of me. I lay looking up at the stars as I so often do up there. Suddenly a blue light " flew " from the sky, along side of me,, and then, made a 90 degree turn and flew past the top of my head. It's hard for me to describe this but the 90 degree turn of the light is what I found most amazing. It seems so simple and I'm sure many people would have ideas to guess at what it was. All I can relate is that I knew it wasn't of this earth. I can't say what it was , but, it wasn't something to be explained away by car lights or flashlights or any simple explanation. I felt like there was a reason I was seeing it, but to this day have no idea what that reason was.

Fireworks

This happened to me about seven years ago. I was at a party with my husband and son and many friends. It was at our friends house and they only lived about half a mile away. After being there only a short while I had to run home and grab a bag of snacks for the party that we'd forgot to bring with us. I walked into my house. A few steps in I heard a POP. I felt something hit my neck and burn. I actually smelled it too. Someone was in my house and shooting a firework!? is all i could think. I ran through the house but no one was there. I heard and felt that firework. It burned me. But nothing was there. I went into the bathroom and looked at my neck and it was burnt. A red spot on the right side just below my ear. IT WAS REALLY BURNT. But still there was nothing in my house. I checked and rechecked and found nothing. I got the snacks and went back to the party. As soon as I got there I told a few friends what had happened. To say jaws dropped is not an exaggeration. They grabbed a few more people and had me tell the story again. I could see everyone was amazed but even more than I'd expect. Then they told me , that while I was at my house, my son had gotten hit in the neck by a bottle rocket. They had him come up to the porch where I was and everyone was more than shocked to see we had the exact same burns , in the exact same spot.
